The yearly Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival returns this year on Nov. 9-11 at Central Harbourfront. The annual music and arts festival incorporates international, regional and local live music, film and art installations. Launched only in 2008, it has a loyal following and in 2015, around 60,000 attended the event, making it Hong Kong’s de facto marquee music event of the year.
Not bad for founders Jay Forster, Mike Hill and Justin Sweeting whose initial goal was to nurture the city’s arts, music and film scene and “put the city on Asia’s contemporary media-arts circuit.” Notable acts who have graced the event include UK’s Travis and New Order and Japan’s Love Psychedelico.
NME credits Clockenflap for pioneering role it has played in nurturing the Chinese indie and alternative music scenes, as well as bringing International talent to Chinese audiences.
